Façade Remediation
ALU helps you turn façade defects and fire safety concerns into a defined, deliverable remediation package. We combine technical coordination, construction management and specialist installation, bringing practical knowledge of the building envelope into the decisions that shape your scope, budget and programme.
A coordinated approach to the building envelope.
The value of a remediation scheme lies in how its components work together. Cladding, insulation, cavity barriers, glazing and balcony junctions all create interfaces that need to be designed, priced and delivered.
We work with your appointed designers to identify those interfaces early, helping you establish package boundaries and explain the proposed works to your client with greater confidence.
Our Services Include

Cladding Remediation & Replacement
We remove and replace defective or unsuitable cladding and associated components within the agreed scope. Alongside the visible finish, we consider supports, fixings, insulation, sheathing and cavity barriers.
Identifying what can be retained, what needs replacement and what requires further investigation gives your team a more useful basis for measurement, tender comparison and risk allowances.

Balcony & Terrace Remediation
We remediate and replace decking, balustrades, screens and associated components.
We coordinate drainage, waterproofing, supports and connections to the building with the project team, taking account of the specified structural and fire performance.

Cavity Barriers & Façade Fire Stopping
Cavity barriers restrict fire and smoke spread within concealed spaces; fire stopping maintains the required separation at relevant joints and penetrations. We coordinate installation with the specified details, including substrate, fixing, orientation and permitted gaps.
Inspection hold points and location-referenced photographs provide evidence before concealment, when correcting a defect is generally more straightforward.

Render & External Wall Insulation Systems
We repair and replace render and external wall insulation systems to address identified defects, improve weather protection and meet the project specification.
Our scope considers the substrate, fixing arrangements and junctions with openings and adjoining finishes.

Curtain Walling & Glazing Remediation
We repair, replace and upgrade curtain walling and glazing within the agreed scope, including panels, seals, fixings and adjoining interfaces. Movement allowances, drainage paths and perimeter fire stopping require coordinated details.
Resolving these with the designers and manufacturers helps avoid an apparently minor replacement becoming an unplanned package of associated works.
Translate performance requirements into the package.
In England, the Building Regulations 2010 set the applicable requirements. For façade works these can include structure, fire safety, moisture resistance and energy performance. Approved Documents provide guidance on meeting those requirements. Where Regulation 7(2) applies, materials in external walls and specified attachments must achieve A1 or A2-s1,d0, subject to its exemptions. That product classification does not establish the compliance of the complete assembly.
Make quality visible throughout delivery.
We help translate the agreed design into procurement requirements, installation checks and handover records. Product identity, approved details and inspection evidence make it easier to track the work actually delivered. For your commercial team, that provides a clearer basis for progress discussions, assessment of changes and completion planning, alongside the contract’s valuation and payment provisions.
